Alpha 3 Gives Back for the Holidays
With growing food and socio-economic insecurities many will face during these unprecedented times, Alpha 3 donated to four deserving organizations this holiday season. As part of our commitment to the communities we service, it is important to us to give back to the cities served by the infrastructure we design and continually support.
CityTeam – Chester, PA
Their vision is “Restoring lives and rebuilding communities through innovative programs which provide food, shelter, clothing, training, and spiritual transformation”. CityTeam offers those in need living in Chester hot meals, shelter, assistance to low-income families, those struggling with homelessness and/or addiction, education and job training, and more.
Bread for the City – Washington DC
Their mission is to help low-income residents shape the future of their communities. They provide food, clothing, and medical care as well as legal and social services to help reduce the burden of poverty – all at no cost to the residents. They are public advocates for justice and work to eradicate racism, which is a major cause of poverty.
DC Central Kitchen – Washington DC
DC Central Kitchen provides hands-on job training for individuals in the community facing difficult employment hurdles while simultaneously delivering living-wage jobs and nutritious food where it’s needed most. DCCK also supplies local schools with homemade meals, runs pop-up markets with fresh and affordable produce for neighborhoods without grocery stores, and operates fast-casual cafes throughout DC.
“The Fuel Fund of Maryland aims to be a lifeline for our vulnerable Maryland neighbors struggling with a home utility hardship. We assist by providing navigation through an array of financial and community resources that empower, engage, and safely connect a household in times of crisis”. Alpha 3’s donation went to their COVID-19 Utility Crisis Fund. As this pandemic continues to take its toll on the health and economic status of the community, the need for utility bill assistance will increase. The COVID-19 Fund will alleviate the overwhelming increase in essential energy assistance the Fuel Fund will provide.
Alpha 3 is extremely grateful to be able to donate to such worthy charities. As hard as our engineers work to maintain and improve our area’s substations and other energy sources, we recognize these four organizations work just as hard to improve the lives of those in our communities.
