Alpha 3 is seeking Project Controls Associates for work in the electric utility and transportation markets.  Applicants should have at least three years of scheduling, project controls, and project management support experience in the engineering and construction industry. Preferred qualifications include:

               •    Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business management
               •    Proficiency in Primavera P6
               •    Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel
               •    Thorough understanding of the critical path method (CPM)
               •    Experience with recommended practices for project controls
               •    Ability to use project controls tools and create and customize reports to suit client needs
               •    Strong presentation and analytical skills
               •    Ability to understand and adapt to various client standards, preferences, and procedures
               •    Strong communication and relationship building skills
               •    Enjoys interacting with people and working with groups
               •    Ability to independently get involved in a fast pace project setting

Responsibilities will include:

               •    Develop, maintain, review, and analyze CPM schedules
               •    Create schedule layouts for different work scopes, disciplines, and contractors
               •    Draft and review time extension requests
               •    Draft and review recovery schedules
               •    Develop, manage, and forecast project budgets and finances
               •    Create and customize project controls reports
               •    Review contracts and project specifications and apply them to relative project tasks
               •    Contribute to writing letters, narratives, and reports
               •    Present project status reports at team meetings
               •    Work with a program and project management team
               •    Work at client sites

Alpha 3 is seeking a Lead Designer to support electrical distribution projects. The Lead Designer will apply knowledge and experience to analyze, evaluate, and create new designs and drawings and revise existing designs and drawings for electrical distribution systems. Responsibilities will include field survey, sketches, CADD, and GIS design. The Lead Designer will use knowledge of components, arrangements, and standards to complete design packages for aerial and underground electric distribution lines and provide guidance to other designers.

Required qualifications include:

  • Associates Degree in the design of electric distribution systems

  • 10+ years of experience in the design of electric utility distribution systems

  • Knowledge of electric utility distribution systems including familiarity with physical characteristics, access, connection, and support requirements for poles, conductors, pad-mounted and pole-mounted transformers, disconnects, reclosers, and similar equipment.

  • Utility distribution project experience, including:

    •      Familiarity with clearance requirements

    •      Experience in preparing construction traffic control plans

    •      Knowledge of common network configurations and components

    •      Knowledge of electrical codes including NEC and NESC

    •      Knowledge of CADD and GIS tools

  • Familiarity with establishing drafting software settings and maintaining CADD standards

  • Ability to understand and incorporate comments and feedback

  • Ability to adapt to various client drafting standards and procedures

  • Ability to work on a team and on multiple projects

  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with utility and interface with engineers and vendors

  • Personal time management skills and ability to adhere to deadlines

  • Attention to detail and pride in work product quality

Alpha 3 is seeking a designer to support substation engineering projects through conceptual and detailed design. Designers will apply knowledge and experience to create new drawings and revise existing drawings with guidance from engineering personnel. Designers will use their knowledge of components, arrangements, and layout standards to complete design packages including one-lines, schematics, electrical layouts, site plans, structures, wiring diagrams, and bills of material. Required qualifications include:

 

  • Knowledge of electrical substations including familiarity with the physical characteristics, access, connection, and support requirements for transformers, breakers, disconnects, buswork, and associated equipment
  • Knowledge of common substation configurations, clearance requirements, and layouts
  • Adaptation to various client drafting standards and procedures
  • Knowledge of Microstation CADD tools
  • Ability to work on a team and on multiple projects
  • Ability to visualize and design work in 2D and 3D
  • Ability to understand and incorporate comments and feedback
  • Personal time management skills and ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Attention to detail and pride in work product quality
  • Utility project experience
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience

Alpha 3 is seeking a protection and controls engineer to support substation engineering projects through conceptual and detailed design. P&C engineers will apply knowledge and experience to analyze, evaluate, and create new designs and drawings and revise existing designs and drawings with guidance from senior engineering personnel, as needed. Engineers will use their knowledge of components, arrangements, and standards to complete design packages including one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of material. Required qualifications include:

 

  • Knowledge of electrical substations including familiarity with the physical characteristics, access, connection, and support requirements for transformers, breakers, disconnects, buswork, and associated equipment
  • Knowledge of electrical codes including NEC and NESC
  • Familiarity with common protection requirements, protection schemes, and application of digital relays
  • Knowledge of common substation configurations
  • Adaptation to various client drafting standards and procedures
  • Knowledge of Microstation CADD tools
  • Ability to work on a team and on multiple projects
  • Ability to understand and incorporate comments and feedback
  • Personal time management skills and ability to adhere to deadlines
